Kanye West has sold his gutted Malibu mansion for $21 million, enduring a massive $36 million loss on the property. Originally purchased in 2021 for $57.25 million, the home was designed by renowned architect Tadao Ando. However, West stripped the property bare during an unfinished renovation, aiming to turn it into a modernist bomb shelter before abandoning the project.
The buyer, California-based real estate firm Belwood Investments, plans to spend $5 million to restore the home to Ando’s original design. Belwood CEO Bo Belmont called it an opportunity to preserve a unique architectural gem. Although the home has been stripped of its interiors, it still retains Ando's signature minimalist concrete style.
Belwood’s restoration will aim to revive the property’s modernist elegance, transforming it from a bare structure into a livable masterpiece once again. Contact us for more information.
